The icon is not an ordinary religious image. Icon writing was a sacred activity. The icon, which was created in the monasteries of Old Rus, painted by privileged monks, was an emanation of the deity that led the creator's hand. Born in prayer, she required special posts before starting work, she arose in the author's kneeling attitude.

This icon is characterized by the gesture of the Child embracing Mary with the arm by the neck. The icon conveys the full relationship of Mother and Son. The Mother of God also symbolizes the Church of Christ, which is why the icon shows the fullness of love between God and man - the fullness that is possible only in the womb of the Mother Church. In this icon, the dignity of the Mother of God disappears, and the deep human tenderness of the Mother to the Child reveals, marked by sad reflection (She foresees the Way of the Cross, knows what suffering awaits Jesus). Love combines heavenly and earthly, divine and human icons: this connection is expressed by the contact of the cheeks.
The colors used in the icon are also symbolic. The background of the icon is golden to give the icon a sense of light and surreality. This color means reign, worship, holiness, is God's clarity and unity, it is indivisible as God is indivisible. That is why Jesus' garment is golden.
The Mother of God's garments are blue (symbol of heaven, spirituality, mystery, inaccessibility), and on them there is a red (symbol of human nature) maforion scarf. The colors of Mary's robes symbolize the mystery of the Incarnation of Christ, which makes Mary the Mother of God, as well as the combination of motherhood and virginity. On Mary's robe there are three golden stars (on the head and on the shoulders) meaning that Mary was always a virgin: before the conception of the Son of God, during and after the birth of Jesus.

The only one of its kind is a real handicraft straight from Greece. The icons are signed and confirmed by a certificate. The icon was made on a wooden board and is decorated with a golden tempera.

Accessories
